Monday marked my 32nd Birthday. Birthdays to me, are always days of reflection and appreciation of life. I thought it would be fun to put together a list of what I’ve learned and will continue to take with me through this thing called LIFE.
- Be compassionate towards others, you never know what they’re going through
- Listen. Truly listen to someone without distraction
- Sometimes if someone has a problem with you, it’s not really about you, it’s about them.
- Vice-Versa: sometimes if you have a problem with someone else, it’s not really about them, it’s about you.
- You don’t always have to say yes
- Clean the kitchen before bed
- Sit with a problem for a while before you react. Let the emotion subside and then after, approach with a clear head
- You’ll never regret an exercise
- Worrying fixes nothing
- Surround yourself with people who make you laugh
- Your life is as good as your mindset
- Have faith in God’s plan
- If you have the power to make someone happy, DO IT
- Hug the dog every day
- Take mental snapshots whenever you can
- “I’ll get gas tomorrow” never ends well
- If it doesn’t make you feel fabulous: don’t do it, don’t buy it, don’t keep it
- It’s better to be the one that smiled than the one that didn’t smile back
- Haste makes WASTE (thanks Dad)
- Set time limits on projects
- Be deliberately optimistic
- Don’t respond to negativity OR people talking badly about others – just ignore it
- You can be the ripest, juiciest peach in the world, but there will still be someone who hates peaches
- What’s important is that YOU like YOU
- Healthy food and skincare should be your most important splurges
- Taking care of yourself helps you take care of others
- Take mental snapshots of little moments whenever you can
- Put down the phone during family time <3
- You don’t have to win every argument
- Prepare and plan for trips (loosely)
- Breathe deeply
- The best is yet to come!
