It’s a colossal composition of trends for Summer 2022 on this week’s blog. This is now the second or third time I’ve compiled trends for the season and I LOVE doing it!
Here’s what we’re going to do, I’m going to go through each trend individually and share how to wear it. Then, I’ll be linking what I can as well as other items also a part of the trend. Let’s get into it!
White Button Down
Maybe you wouldn’t consider this one a “trend” per say, but I for sure have been seeing the classic white button down more frequent as of late. I particularly love a white button down because it’s a classic. Dress it down with some leggings or a spandex onesie (like I am in the picture above) or wear it half tucked in to a pair of high waisted jeans. Can’t go wrong and a trend I would personally splurge a bit more on because it will age very well!
The white button down above is from Amazon, I’m wearing a size medium and it’s $20.99. It gives a good feel for the trend, but the quality is not great and it wrinkles easily. Pick it up if you simply want to give the trend a try or spend a bit more and keep it as a staple piece in your closet. I found a classic, great quality top from J.Crew and also found a save from Target for $25.
Oversized Handbags
Alright, I was pretty pumped about this trend. With a two year old, I’m constantly lugging stuff…a lot of stuff around. We just need a lot to get out of the house. I’ve been carrying around a diaper bag for the past two years. I am so excited to carry around a regular bag again! Fit your stuff and then some. I can throw a smaller bag with diapers and wipes into this oversized bag and look trendy while doing it. I would personally save on this trend, you don’t really need to spend big to get the big bag look.
The straw tote shown above is from Banana Republic and currently 30% off. It’s also available in a lighter tan. The woven material makes it perfect for Summer and the price is right. Linking a few other options I found below.

Onesies
I’ve seen both the short style and long legging onesie. While I would probably never wear the one piece on it’s own, I must say it’s comfy, easy and goes great with the button down or under a crew neck. I would splurge on this trend. Spandex and tight legging material is an easy material to mess up.
The onesie in the above pic is from Free People Movement. I’m really happy with the material. It’s not too thin and it’s comfortable. I sized down to the XS/S for a tighter fit. Also, sharing below two more pieces from SKIMS and Old Navy.
Fisherman Sandals
Ahhh the trend I did not see coming! I know people will be on the fence with this one, but I personally LOVE it! It’s giving a hint of 90’s classic and I’m so here for it. I wasn’t able to find many saves for this one. So I guess we have to call it a splurge, but if you’re not really into the trend, don’t splurge. If you are into the trend, I say, go for it! It’s a bit more than your regular sandal.
These fisherman sandals are from J.Crew and are currently an extra 50% off with code: FLASH. I ordered my usual size ( size 7) and I’m sharing two other options from Steve Madden and Anthropologie.
Raffia
a Summer-y, woven, palm like material perfect for the season. Accessorize with this trend! I’m talking earrings, bags, belts and shoes. This can be a total save in my opinion. It’s a trend you want to use so wear and tear is inevitable – I wouldn’t splurge.
These sandals are from Dillards by Aldo. They’re $60 and I bought them in my usual size (size 7). They’re also available in orange and dark brown. My earrings above are from Anthropologie. They’re lightweight and $48. Leaving a few other options below!
Color Blocking
This is a fun one. A stand out trend. Color blocking is taking two totally different colors and pairing them together. For example: pink with orange, blue with green, green with pink. It almost feels illegal breaking all the fashion rules! For me, I wasn’t quite sure where I was going to be pulling this trend off. So, I color blocked with an accessory. You can totally save on this trend. Go through your closet, pull out what you already have and take it from there!
This dress and handbag are from Express. I chose a color I knew I would wear often throughout the Summer and paired it with a pink bag because you could ALWAYS use a pink bag! The dress and handbag are sold out, but I’m linking similar below. Along with a few other options.
Mini Skirt
Gotta be honest, this trend is not totally feasible for me since most of my time is spent playing on the floor lol. So, I sorta cheated and purchased a skort! I can totally see the mini skirt lasting through Summer into Fall with some knee high boots, but I still don’t feel it’s a trend you totally need to splurge on. I’m calling this one a save.
The above skort is from Old Navy. It’s currently limited in sizes, but I found a similar pleated skort that is super cute! I’m linking that one along with a few others below.
Green
Really, green in any shade for this season, but especially in this evergreen color shown above. It’s a stand out color for any clothing item head to toe. I’ve seen some great leggings in this shade and some lime green, too. You could even go with a monochromatic green look if you’re feeling adventurous. I’m going to go with a splurge on this trend. Green will never leave. Purchase an item worth your while. A nice pair of leggings or cardigan could be future key staples in your closet.
Above is the Abercrombie Mini Traveler Dress. I’m wearing the dark green color which is constantly selling out, but keep an eye out for restocks. While you’re waiting, they have several other color-ways to chose from. It’s $69 on Abercrombie’s website and I would suggest sizing down one.
Tailored Pants
I’ll say it right now, I would invest the most in this trend. A good pair of tailored pants should be a staple in every closet. It’s a hint of the 90’s once again and I’m totally here for it. Because of the flow of the pant, I’d suggest pairing them with a body suit or like I am here, a cropped tank. Add some shape with a belt, too. This would be my main splurge for the season. Invest in a nice pair and have them tailored to fit well. Wear them with sandals through the Summer and take them into fall with a pair of ballet flats.
These tailored pants are from Abercrombie. The material is thinner than I had expected and they wrinkle easily. They’re comfortable, so I’m not totally writing them off, but I’m linking several other pairs below.
Uber Glam
We’re talking sparkles, sequins and metallics. This trend screams I’m ready to live! Mix and match, go all out or add some glam accents to your wardrobe. Anything goes here and it’s a save for me. You can go both high and low.
These wide leg metallic pants are from Nordstrom & still available in a XS and S. They’re also 60% off and TTS. Linking several other uber glam looks below!
Cut-Outs
A trend I was totally going to skip until I found this dress. Cut-Out tops and dresses are all over this season. I could honestly say its one of the most popular. It’s a save because it’s everywhere.
I think my above sentence about almost sitting out on this trend until I found this dress says it all. The side cut-outs are appropriate without being too revealing. The dress is comfortable AND on sale for under $30 today. It’s true to size and could even be a perfect dress to wear to a wedding this season.
