Full disclosure before we start this blog, in no way am I a medical expert. As always, ask your dermatologist or healthcare professional before testing out a skincare product.
Since the age of 25, I have been on a JOURNEY with my skin. Dealing with acne, acne scarring and hyperpigmentation is never fun, especially in your late 20’s. You think, ok, the acne phase is over, time to start thinking fine lines and wrinkles. Sometimes that’s not the case. Enter into the chat – vitamin C.
It’s been a while since we’ve talked skincare (I think the last review was the viral vue de pulang moisturizer). That’s how you know this one’s a good one. This potent, magical ingredient’s splendour is good enough for me to shout from the rooftops (or blog). Lol I really mean it, I’m not being overdramatic.
The downside? This ingredient can get pricey. And if you have been a follower for a while, you know that if I’m going to spend, I’m going to do my research beforehand. Which is what I’ve done and why I’m sharing it here.
We’re going to break down the 5 W’s of Vitamin C. I’m going to share the one I recommend (I’ve been using it for about 6 weeks now) and I’ll share some other vitamin c products with great reviews!
who it is
The Peter Thomas Roth Potent-C Vitamin C Power Serum. It’s $98 for a 30 ml bottle on Sephora’s website.
what it does
Brightens skin, reduces hyperpigmentation (by decreasing the production of melanin), evens out the texture of your skin, reduces skin exposure to free radicals (including pollution and ultraviolet light), diminishes fine lines & wrinkles.
where to apply
Using about a pump and a half, mix between the palm of your hands and press into cheeks, under eye (but not too close to the eye), neck and decolletage.
when to apply
Apply in the morning, after your cleanser and toner. Before your moisturizer and SPF.
why this one
I have been using this vitamin c since April and have noticed a SIGNIFICANT difference in my skin. Discoloration from acne scarring has diminished, diminished dark undereye circles, it has evened out texture on my cheeks and even diminished neck wrinkles (AKA tech neck lol).
This product is 50 times more powerful than the traditional vitamin C and I think that may be the secret!
Heads up, when I mentioned I was introducing vitamin c to my facialist, she told me to be careful. Vitamin C can clog pores. I am happy to report I’ve had zero issues. Also, it does have a scent (one person online even said it smelled like hot dog water), but that’s the vitamin c! Trust me on this one, I’ve done the research on the smell, too.
I have several cheaper options below jackietroum.com approved. I’m also leaving my favourite vitamin c underlie cream below.
