First, to my fellow Starbucks coffee drinkers. I’m here to say, I see you, I hear you when you complain about a latte being $8 or the extra sugar added to your shaken espresso. I know, I know because I love the drinks too. But what if I told you, you could make an at home coffee treat?
Or a coffee smoothie, if you will. No artificial sweeteners and no syrups. With this recipe, the sweetness comes from wholesome ingredients like dates, cacao nibs and maple syrup. This recipe is from a blogger – Lydia Millen. It’s been an afternoon sweet treat fave of mine.
Have I sparked your interest?! Let’s get into it!
You Need:
- 3/4 c milk (I used almond)
- 6 dried dates
- 1 c coffee
- 1 TBSP cacao nibs
- 1 TBSP maple syrup
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 handful of ice
What To Do:
- blend and pour into your favorite glass!
If a sweet treat with a cup of coffee sounds as good to you as it does to me, pair this drink with the lemon blueberry bars from last year’s Easy July 4th BBQ Recipes blog.
